#17 Go to an outdoor concert

Nothing says summer like doing things outside that you normally do inside! Haha I really wanted to go to an outdoor concert and I knew the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale did free ones on Sunday nights! We loaded up blankets and snacks and staked out a spot. This was one of the times I noticed the cultural differences between IL & AZ. Arizonans know it’s going to be hot as heck so they bring sheets not blankets. Noted.

I brought some snacks- chips & salsa, cherries, pretzels, and A Beautiful Mess’s Halfway Homemade Brownies. (Bakers Note: so yummy! But next time I would add the pretzels after baking. They got a little mushy.)

The night we picked The JJ’s were performing- they are the self proclaimed “premier motown & funk band in Arizona.” Kurtis pointed out that he hadn’t heard of any other funk bands in Arizona so this must be true. They played everything from 80s dance music, to disco, to the Black Eyed Peas. They were great performers- like actually talented. Haha. You have to be if you’re going to try to tackle Michael Jackson!

The night wasn’t really about the music though. It was about watching old white people bust a move, catching up, and enjoying a summer night! Chad and Shaina even showed up with their bundle of joy! I just have no idea how you can see a baby and not believe in miracles….babies are are just so precious.

OH AND HOW COULD I FORGET! There is this little train that goes around the whole park….and of course Jen & Clark insisted it was a real train. Even though it’s like a mini train for kids. I got a kick out of seeing Jen, Clark, & Abraham ride this little thing. Haha

Fun, fun, fun night checking something else off my list!

At the beginning of the summer, I wrote out a list of fun things I wanted to get done this summer! You can read the complete list here and all the posts here!
